I Inspire My Husband!

The title for my blog, Beautiful Descent, came out of a conversation I had with my hubby. I was telling him how I felt moved by The Water Song in Hannah Hurnard's book Hind's Feet on High Places. There, the water came from the high places that the main character is trying desperately to reach, but it sings happily about going to the lowlands to serve, and to bring life. This resonated with me because of the brokenness I live with. Despite its many forms, I can better empathize with those who also find themselves in very difficult places, and I see this as an opportunity to bring the life of Jesus within me into the broken worlds of other people.

I was trying to compress all this into a blog title and theme, and Matthew came up with "Beautiful Descent." Recently, this all inspired him to write an article reflecting on the Christian life embodies a very similar principle, whether we suffer from some form of acute brokenness or not. Read it here at the Colson Center for Christian Worldview.

You two are an excellent team :) What a beautiful picture, thank you for sharing.

Today I am working on my Bible verse cards to have for after my little guy is born. Thanks for the great idea to keep spiritually fed.

Amy, your husband's post is beautiful! His words so eloquently and sufficiently speak the truth of the broken life and its necessity for us.

I am praying the Lord will help me to become broken life for Him and those around me.

Thank you for sharing rich truth. I am very inspired and challenged this evening. It was exactly what I needed.

I hope you are doing well. I empathize with any physical pain and fatigue you suffer.

You're a strong, lovely woman of God, and I admire your faith!

Love,

Andrea

I read your husband's post a few days ago.

Brief, but meaty.

And he's so right.

Beauty from brokenness, dancing in the midst of the pain, strength in weakness... these are just some of the things that come to my mind each time I think of you.

Truly dear Amy I look forward to meeting you face to face someday.

One of the themes in my own Christian walk is the "Theology of weakness." Henri Nouwen has written a few essays about it.

I wrote a post about it on Palm Sunday. Maybe you can read it one of these days.

Oh, and welcome back!
